16 – 18 February
A delegation of the Supreme Court of Nepal, headed by its Chief Justice Ram Kumar Prasad Shah, visited the Russian Federation.
During their visit, the Nepalese guests met with Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Lebedev, President of the Constitutional Court Valery Zorkin, Director-General of the Judicial Department under the Supreme Court Alexander Gusev, President of Moscow Region Court Vyacheslav Voloshin and President of Saint-Petersburg City Court Valentina Yepifanova, observed the landmarks of Moscow and Saint-Petersburg.
Deputy Chief Justice Oleg Sviridenko hosted a delegation of the Economic Court of the Commonwealth of Independent States, headed by its President, Lyudmila Kamenkova.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the issues of holding the Plenary Session of the Economic Court in 2015, as well as a draft Agreement on the Status of the Economic Court of the CIS.
14 – 18 March
The UN Human Rights Committee held its 113th session in Geneva, Switzerland. Among other topics, the session was dedicated to the 7th periodical report of the Russian Federation regarding its implementation of provisions of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
Bogdan Zimnenko, deputy Head of Department for Systematisation of Legislation and Analysis of Judicial Practice, participated in the session.
26 – 31 March
Within the framework of realisation of the protocol of intentions regarding cooperation between the Supreme Courts of Brazil, Russia, India and China, signed by the Chief Justices of the aforementioned courts, a delegation of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, headed by Chief Justice Vyacheslav Lebedev, participated in BRICS Justices Forum that took place in Sanya, People’s Republic of China.
One of the main topics of the forum was environmental judicial protection. “Sanya Statement” was signed by the participants at the closing session.
First Deputy Chief Justice Pyotr Serkov hosted a delegation of the Supreme Administrative Court of Thailand, headed by Vitsanu Varanyu, chairman of one of the court’s chambers.
At the request of the foreign guests, Justice Serkov shared the experience of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation in implementing IT in judicial proceedings.
16 – 18 April
Upon invitation of Pak Myong Cher, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, a delegation of the Russian Supreme Court, headed by Chief Justice Lebedev, visited Pyongyang.
During the visit, members of the delegation met with Kim Yong-nam, President of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of North Korea, and with senior judges of DPRK’s Supreme Court.
The Russian delegation also visited numerous landmarks of the capital, such as Kim Il-sung’s memorial house and the Monument to the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War.
A meeting took place between Chief Justice Vyacheslav Lebedev and a delegation of the Supreme Judicial Committee for Elections of the Syrian Arab Republic, visiting Moscow by invitation of the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation.
21 – 23 April
An official visit of delegation of the Supreme Court of Thailand, headed by Chief Justice Direk Ingkaninanda took place. In Moscow, the Thai delegation visited the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation to meet with Chief Justice Vyacheslav Lebedev. Later during the visit, Thai judges met with justices of the Constitutional Court, senior officials of the Ministry of Justice and the Judicial Department under the Supreme Court, and enjoyed sightseeing in Moscow and Saint-Petersburg.
In the opinion of the parties, the visit was a great incentive to the strengthening of professional ties between judiciaries of the two countries.
Chief Justice Vyacheslav Lebedev met with Philippe Boillat, Director General of Council of Europe’s Human Rights and Rule of Law Directorate General.
During the meeting, the dignitaries discussed Russia’s fulfilment of its obligations regarding the protection of human rights and freedoms, as well as the different mechanisms of control over that performance.
26 – 30 April
Within the framework of a joint project organised with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Head of the IT Department Sergey Kryukov visited Strasbourg and Paris in order to learn about the European experience of implementing IT in court procedures.
1 – 5 June
Justice Alexander Klikushin, head of a panel of judges for family law disputes, and Andrey Koylyak, deputy Head of the IT Department, visited Vienna (Austria) in order to prepare and implement a strategy of improvement of the IT infrastructure of the Russian Supreme Court. The visit was part of a joint project conducted with the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
A delegation of the Federal Court of Brazil headed by its Chief Justice Ricardo Lewandowski visited the Russian Federation. During the meetings with the leadership of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation and the Judicial Department at the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, the parties have stressed the importance of development and strengthening of bilateral cooperation between Brazil and Russia, as well as of cooperation among the BRICS countries.
3 – 5 June
Deputy Chief Justice and Chair of the Judicial Chamber for Administrative Cases Tatiana Petrova and Justice Lyudmila Kalinina participated in an international conference in Almaty, Kazakhstan, titled “Administrative Justice: Experience and Problems”.
The conference was jointly organised by the International Union of Lawyers, the World Bank and the German IRZ-Stiftung. The participants discussed issues of modern administrative judicial procedures and the international experience in the sphere of administrative justice.
Chief Justice Vyacheslav Lebedev met with a delegation of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, led by Prosecutor General Chan Byung Kyu. The delegation was visiting Russia by invitation of the Russian Prosecutor General.
First Deputy Chief Justice Pyotr Serkov met with a group of Cuban prosecutors, who were visiting Russia during their course of further training at the Academy of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation.
20 – 22 June
A delegation of the People’s Supreme Court of Cuba led by its Chief Justice Ruben Ferro made an official visit to Russia.
During the visit, the Cuban judges met with Chief Justice Vyacheslav Lebedev and visited Saratov Region to examine the work of the regional and district courts.
